Bayer CropScience

Giving you more ways to keep growing

Farmers and other crop growers are among the most innovative groups in our community, constantly adapting to changing circumstances.

The challenge for our team at Bayer is to keep one step ahead of your current needs so we can start developing the new products you’ll be using further down the track.

We have a proud tradition of developing important products that have really made a difference to cropping businesses and we will continue to do so.

Integrated solutions

Innovation isn’t just about developing new products. We are now adopting an integrated approach to sustainable crop production that encompasses new herbicidal modes of action, breeding new crop varieties, local production of high-quality seeds and exploring biological pest management.

Our support for integrated crop production strategies also involves working in expanded partnerships with other research-driven organisations that have farmers’ best interests at heart like CSIRO and the GRDC. The announcement of our joint development project to increase wheat yields marks a new level of engagement based on years of productive co-operation in the past.

Truly local for a very long time

Bayer CropScience was established in Australia in August 2002 when Bayer Crop Protection – a pioneer in crop protection since 1892 – acquired Aventis CropScience.

The heritage of Aventis CropScience encompassed AgrEvo, Rhône-Poulenc and Hoechst. Between them, our foundation companies provided Australian farmers with such mainstays of their previous crop protection programs as Hoegrass®, Tristar® and Tigrex®.

All over the country, we are part of the local communities, contributing good ideas and providing the resources to put those ideas into action.

Adapting to your needs

Thanks to our long association with local primary producers, including cotton, vegetable, grape and other fruit growers, we are able to identify the best applications of new active ingredients for Australian crops and conditions, then run extensive trials before we bring them to market.

Most of all, we want everyone in the food and fibre production chain to be able to rely on us – not just on our products (old and new), but also on the information and advice we provide to support them.

The Give Program

We believe we have a responsibility to work hand-in-hand with the community as part of our company goal to ‘benefit people and improve their quality of life’.

Bayer’s Give Program supports our employees in their community and charity activities outside work, and allows Bayer as a corporate entity to make a positive impact in the wider community wherever we’re active around the country.
